The voice of the enemy

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. John 10:10 ESV

Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. 1 Peter 5:8–9 ESV

• The enemy’s voice is obsessive, anxious, stressful, worrying, condemning, discouraging, confusing. It pushes, frightens, and rushes.
• He counterfeits everything, even twisting Scripture. The key is to stay grounded in Truth and to discern from a secure, rooted understanding of who God is.
• In the name of Jesus, we carry authority to rebuke the schemes of the enemy.

Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.’” Matthew 4:10 ESV

Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. Luke 10:19 ESV

then hear in heaven your dwelling place and forgive and act and render to each whose heart you know, according to all his ways (for you, you only, know the hearts of all the children of mankind). 1 Kings 8:39 ESV

The voice of other people

• The enemy also speaks through pressure; peer expectations, culture, the world, friends, leaders, family, news, social media, entertainment, advertising, insecurity, and doubt.
• These voices are often a major source to create the fear of man, pushing us away from Jesus. In a world like this, we cannot tolerate anything that pulls us off-center, we must lean even more intentionally into the voice of the Lord.

• Each person has a direct line of communication with the Lord. He honors our free will, and we walk in humility before Him by listening for His voice.
