The whole purpose of spiritual gifts is love. If it makes YOU bigger or more important, it’s not about you.

What makes it difficult for us to receive spiritual gifts?
- Abuse
- Theology
- Lack of experience
Apostle vs. Evangelist
Apostle: A “sent one” — someone commissioned and sent out with authority on a mission (in Christianity, those sent by Jesus to spread his teachings).
- The word apostle comes from the Greek ἀπόστολος (apostolos), meaning “one who is sent” or “messenger/emissary.”
- In the New Testament, an apostle is someone commissioned and sent out with authority, especially by Jesus, to spread his teaching.
Evangelist: A “bringer of good news” — someone who announces or proclaims good news (originally a victory messenger; later used for proclaimers of the gospel).
- The word evangelist comes from Greek εὐαγγελιστής (euangelistēs), meaning “bringer of good news”.
- It was used in the ancient world for a courier or herald who brought news of victory (especially military victory) back to the city.
- Christians later used it for those proclaiming the ‘good news’ (gospel).
