Four cornerstones to healthy relationships & effective teaming

(2) Know what your real purpose is: reflecting the image of God__

Genesis 1:27: God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

Romans 8:28–29: We have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son…

• Nobody can take from us_ our purpose of reflecting God.
• We are called to ‘image’ Christ as much in team and community as we are personally.

(3) Know where your security comes from: being one with Christ__

“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— 23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.” John 17:20–23

• You get to love from intimacy, not to get intimacy.

Key Thought: This grounds you so deeply in your security in God’s love that it is easier to confess sin, easier to say I’m sorry, and more ready to be accountable.

• The more we grasp our security, the easier it will be to walk in relationship_ with each other.
• We are free from trying to love people with our love; we now get to enter into God’s love for them.
• We are meant to trace Jesus, not copy_ Jesus.

(4) Know the freedom of living by the Spirit_

“I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.” Ezekiel 36:27

• The Holy Spirit causes us to obey. But how?

“Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’” (He said this about the Spirit.) John 7:38
