We are meant to discover our identity by being loved and loving_.

“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now abide in my love. 10 If you keep my commands, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and abide in his love.” John 15:9 ESV

How our 'Loved-By-God' identity changes us:

10 If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love. 11 These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. 12 “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. • Outcomes of Seeing Obedience as the Overflow of God’s Love

  • Obedience is not about _earning God’s love, but knowing we have received God’s love.
  • We obey not to earn God’s favor_; we obey because we already have God’s favor.
  • Love is giving someone else the power to change.
  • If I assume that I am loved-by-God, then when obedience is hard I will first look at where I have not allowed The Father to love me, rather than condemn myself.
  • If I am truly aware that I am loved by God, then I don't need any promise for any outcome for my obedience.

  • To be loved by God is to trust Him to be able to trust God.
