How do you discern the voice of God?

Confirmation is overrated

Most of the time, confirmation is overrated. Many Christians live at 51.99% certainty, waiting until they feel completely right about a decision. But the longer you walk with Jesus, the more you learn that following Him is about trust and faith, not absolute certainty. If you don’t quit, you win.

When Dan heard the voice of God saying, “Go to Ashkabad,” he began wrestling with his reality of a four-year program pursuing a business degree and prayed for confirmation that he had heard correctly. However, no confirmation came. Still, he did not want to step back and miss the opportunity to truly know Jesus.

“God, I do not know if it is now or how, but I trust You. I trust that You are calling me to go to Ashkabad.” ”Thank You.”

God wants to give us His dream, and He wants us to receive it and live it out.

Obedience > Finance

Do not let money get in the way of your obedience.

The prayer Dan’s mother prayed when she found out he was imprisoned in Iran:

“God, do not release him until Your purpose is fulfilled.”

Intimacy with God > Labor

Whatever you do for the Lord, do it from a place of intimacy with God.

God is more committed to His will than you are to figuring it out. The Christian life is more about discovering how much God is into us than how much we are into Him.

Friendship with Jesus

When Dan was throwing rocks into the river, he heard God say multiple times, “Hey Dan, can I throw rocks with you?” Dan responded, “Yes, You can throw rocks with me, but why would You want to do that?” In that moment, he realized that Jesus liked him.

When someone realizes that Jesus likes them, it changes everything.

Jesus loves interrupting analysis. He also loves giving partial hints so that you keep coming back to Him.

When you stop hearing the voice of God, you start analyzing.
